You've probably heard it discussed before, people who say, "I do this because of my why" and you aren't quite sure what a "why" is nor the reason people are so passionate about it. Today I will walk you through a few quick steps that will leave you with a new sense of purpose... Also known as, your WHY!
A "why" is a purpose or a reason a person does something. Mary eats healthy every day because her why is "...to feed her body with healthy nutrients daily so she can perform in road races with minimal injury and sick days."
Your main reasoning could be as simple as "I want to fit back into my jeans" or "I want to sleep better at night" which is great but your "why" should get a little deeper than that, which will help be a driving force in your day-to-day life.
Okay, get ready by grabbing a pencil and a sheet of paper. I want you to jot down a few of these questions and thoughtfully answer them:
Why do you want ______________?
Why is _______________ important to me?
What am I willing to sacrifice to gain _______________?
Take the time to really dig deep and keep refining your answer until you come up with a concrete "why".
I want to lose 10 pounds > I want to be able to feel good when I get to the top of the stairs and not out of breath > I want to improve my overall cardiovascular health > I want to live life to the fullest by staying active and reaching my full potential.
Everyone's answer will look different and that's the beauty of this exercise. I want you to take the time to find your "why" when it comes to health and fitness and "why" you get out of bed in the morning. Once you are done, be sure to post it where you can look at it and be reminded daily.
Please feel free to comment below with your "why" if you feel like sharing it!
